I am so glad to find fellow travelers to join me on the road to increasing our retirement savings.
This book started from my own experiences-I am a single mother who raised two children with very little income. What I did have, I spent on my children’s needs, and I am proud to say my adult children have succeeded very well. But while I was busy supporting my children, I wasn’t thinking about my needs. And by age 60, I had very little savings and then lost my job. I knew I needed a retirement plan, and fast.
When I read the statics from the US Census Bureau, I realized I was far from alone. According to 2023-five-year estimates there are more than 67 billion individuals in the US over the age of 60; the median household income is approximately $77,000; and the median retirement savings for individuals 60-69 is $120,000-barely enough to pay for a comfortable retirement. The average American couple may need between $300,000 to $500,000 to maintain their pre- retirement standard of living.
Now was not the time to give up, I knew I had to develop a plan that would help me reach my retirement goals. That’s how this book came about. And now, I want to share my knowledge with you, in hopes that we can all feel confident as we move forward.
